Absorbency

These nappies are really absorbent for their size. They are not bulky so I was nicely surprised by how long they last. The pocket is big enough to allow boosting if required. The layers make sense to me – a soft stay dry lining, then a microfibre layer, then bamboo at the bottom. The microfibre is really quick to absorb and the bamboo will lock wee away – a great combination.

My daughter has tested our Baby Chilli nappy several times in true breastfed baby style… yep, a big sticky mess, but nothing escaped at all. We have never had any wee leak either, and that’s with me forgetting to change her as often as I should as well as with car journeys (can often be bad for compression leaks). Very impressive.
Drying time

Our nappy dried in 24 hours on an airer which is great for the level of absorbency. The way the bamboo layers flap out to dry really helps. I’ve found the bamboo dries at the same rate as the rest of the nappy – it’s not too thick but thick enough to improve the absorbency of the nappy.
Fit

I like the fit of these a lot. They’re not particularly narrow in the crotch area but they’re not wide either, so a good happy medium. The cross over aplix tabs should accommodate a slender baby nicely, not that I’ve had chance to test that with my podgy little one!
Drawbacks
I can see these becoming a new obsession! As ever, I’d like to see a popper fastening version but I was surprised by how much I like the aplix – it is really strong so should stand the ravages of time and it sticks down to the laundry tabs really firmly.

These are fairly pricey so I don’t think I could justify a full stash of them but they are worth it for a few special nappies.

When I opened the parcel containing the nappy, my breath was taken away. It was one of the most beautiful nappies I’ve ever seen (Night Owl – Blush, with a lavender suedecloth inner and baby pink aplix), prettily wrapped up with ribbon and accompanied by a full colour information leaflet. I wasn’t disappointed by how it works either, which can sometimes be the case with very pretty nappies. Pretty much perfect!
